Edmond Joyeusaz
I live in Courmayeur at the foot of Mont Blanc. I am Master and Federal Coach of Alpine Skiing for over 40 years and Mountain Guide at the Alpine Guide Society of Courmayeur which, founded in 1850 is the second in the world for seniority and tradition.
Skiing is one of my greatest passions. I’m an “Ex-Azzurro”, I won the Italian cup in 1984 and for years I have been among the best Italian skiers and World Champion in alpine guides skiing in 1999.
In the mid ‘80s I was among the first to discover the snowboard. It was with the snowboard that I made the first extreme descent on the Mont Blanc. For over 25 years I have been the leader of mountaineering expeditions in Himalaya and Karakoram. To name some of the most known summits: the Everest, K2, Cho Oyu and Lhotse. I was the first one to ski down the K2 and it was from the summit of the Shisha Pangma (8,047mt) in Tibet, that I made the first absolute descent on skis, a descent that no one, still today, has been able to repeat.

In winter 2012 I completed another first absolute descent with skis, the southeast gully of the Dames Anglaises on the Italian side of Mont Blanc.
Since 2015, with the Swiss4000SteepSkiProjects project, I have been involved in the creation of first absolute descents with mountain skis that exceed 4000 meters in Swiss territory; at the moment I made the descent of the south face of the Grand Combin (4.314m.), in 2016 the north part of the Dent Blanche (4.357m.), in 2017 the south face of the Weisshorn (4.506m.), in 2018 I made the first full descent from the top of the Matterhorn (4.478m.)
For some years I have stopped my activity as a federal alpine skiing coach to devote myself to simple teaching and I continue with great passion to accompany mountain climbers all over the world.
For decades, I have also been in love with flying. In the 80s I was a pioneer of paragliding with which I made numerous exploits, among them, the 1st tandem flight from the Grandes Jorasses (4,208 m.).
I fly with paragliding, the glider, the ultralight plane, the autogyro, the drone and lately I have been passionate about speed riding.
PROPOSALS
Snow, rock, ice and air are my world. Living in harmony with nature, to grasp the emotions it gives you, share with friends and customers the joys of a hard top or a simple walk, ski free in the fresh snow of the woods; or, try the extraordinary sensation of a silent flight of the glaciers, have always reasons that gratify me and allow me to realize myself.
